Neon Hutch

One day, he'll hear that song.

neon rabbit afloat in the murk of some godsent tangle of
light and dark and all things that have ever been all rising
to a winterdark falling home in the tangledeep
the godsent tangledeep
we once fell into ourselves.
lost that it was anything but what we once wished.

if you look out far enough from there to earth
there’s a kind man with a deephappy drive.
somewhere that song he’s never heard is playing
and one day he’ll hear that song
he’ll love it
by god
he’ll love it more than anything

now he retains the deadbeauty of a passing stranger
the way the light dashes over her
like the neon jumping off the rabbit he’s now watching
in that tangledeep
the godsent tangledeep
with blackeyes on its hindlegs
whiskers twitching
realeyes closed
sinewy colordrunk fur incandescent
